About Helen's

Home

Helen Fitzgerald, was the matriarch of the Syberg restaurant clan until her passing in the 80’s. Born in 1907 (or so the family thinks, her birth records thought to be destroyed in a fire in Memphis, Tennessee).

Helen was a strong woman in the "Rosie the Riveter" mold. Working in a small-arms plant when her husband fell ill, she later went on to become the head hostess at the Missouri Athletic Club.

During her 22 years of service at the exclusive downtown establishment, Helen was a privileged insider to the behind-the-scene power brokering that defined St. Louis during the 50's and 60's.

Designated as one of the finest Irish hostesses in all the land by the ISL (International Society of Leprechauns), her reputation as a hostess without peer was firmly established.

Helen was loved by all and became a household name during this period. She was also an expert baker whose recipes are coveted by, among others, the Pillsbury Company.

Helen Fitzgerald's Bar & Grill was opened as a tribute this matriarch.

COME IN AND HAVE A DRINK TO HONOR HELEN AND SAY HI TO THE SYBERG FAMILY.
